TrendsConnector

YouTube trending connector

Add one custom connector. Ask Claude or Cursor what is on YouTube Trending, or how a phrase is growing on YouTube search, without opening YouTube and without a Google Cloud project. The connector is the install door. It is not a second YouTube API page and not a public Trending chart.

In Claude, this is a custom connector. The server URL is https://trendsconnector.com/mcp. You sign in once with the same free key you would use on the API. After that, a normal chat can call YouTube Trending or a YouTube keyword series when you name the platform.

The prompt that works is specific. "What is on YouTube Trending right now" hits the live board. "12-month YouTube growth for cold plunges" hits source youtube. If you only say "YouTube" the model may reach for Google's Data API instead. Name TrendsConnector and the chart or the keyword.

One TrendsConnector covers YouTube, Google Trends, TikTok, Reddit, Amazon, and the rest. Cursor, ChatGPT, and VS Code take the same MCP URL. The for-client pages on this domain are the per-app walkthrough. This page is the YouTube-shaped install.

In one connection, your AI assistant can query YouTube through TrendsConnector, on the same free key as every other source. Ask for up to five years of weekly history, compare growth over 3 months, 12 months or year to date, or pull the live YouTube board with no keyword at all. Every series comes back on a shared 0 to 100 index, so YouTube can be compared against Google, YouTube, TikTok, Amazon and the rest in a single answer, with no per platform account, scraper or API key to manage.

What you can pull

History and growth queries return weekly points on a 0 to 100 index, with absolute volume where the source provides it. Growth queries can compare several windows, and several sources, in one call. Live boards return the current ranked list, and on paid plans the biggest climbers against an earlier snapshot.

How to ask

Pass any keyword for search volume. The trending-video list needs no keyword.

Example prompt for your AI

Using TrendsConnector, what is on YouTube Trending right now, and how has YouTube search for that top title moved over 12 months?

Example call

The same data is available as an MCP tool for your assistant and as a direct REST call for your own code. One key works for both.

MCP or REST, history for one keyword

{
  "mode": "get_time_series",
  "source": "youtube",
  "keyword": "your keyword"
}

Growth, compared across sources in one call

{
  "mode": "get_growth",
  "source": "youtube, google search, youtube",
  "keyword": "your keyword",
  "percent_growth": ["3M", "1Y"]
}

Direct REST call

curl https://api.trendsconnector.com/api \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"mode": "get_growth", "source": "youtube", "keyword": "your keyword", "percent_growth": ["3M", "1Y"]}'

Live board, no keyword needed

{
  "mode": "get_top_trends",
  "type": "YouTube",
  "limit": 20
}

Connect it in three steps

  1. 1. Get a free key. 100 requests a month, no credit card. Your key is shown on screen and emailed to you, and it works immediately.
  2. 2. Paste one config. Add the TrendsConnector MCP server to Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, VS Code or Windsurf. The server URL is https://api.trendsconnector.com/mcp and the only value you change is your key.
  3. 3. Ask in plain language. Use the example prompt above, or your own keyword. Your assistant calls the connector and answers with the series, the growth, or the live board.

Full per client setup, including Claude.ai Connectors and copy paste JSON for every supported client, is in the docs connect guide. The machine readable reference is at /docs.md and /openapi.json.

What this does not include

This is search interest and the trending list. It does not return view counts, channel subscribers, or comments.

TrendsConnector returns trend data: history, growth and live boards on a normalized scale. It is not a scraper, and it does not return raw posts, videos, listings or personal data from YouTube. If you need a neighbouring signal, one key already covers it: see the related connectors below instead of signing up for a second tool.

Questions

Do I need a YouTube API key?

No. A TrendsConnector key is enough. The connector reads the YouTube Trending board and the youtube search series. It does not sit on Google Cloud quota.

What should I type in Claude?

Name the connector and the job. Example. Using TrendsConnector, show YouTube Trending, then 12-month YouTube search growth for the first title.

Is this the same as the YouTube trending API?

Same data, different door. The API page is JSON for your code. This page is the MCP install for an assistant.

Does this work in Claude Desktop?

Yes. Desktop takes the same connector URL, or the MCP config block with a Bearer key. Custom connectors still depend on your Claude plan.

Can I see which videos are trending?

Yes. The trending-video list needs no keyword.

Does this return view counts?

No. It returns search volume for a keyword, and the list of videos trending now.

How do I connect the YouTube connector to Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT?

Get a free API key, then paste the TrendsConnector MCP config into your client (Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, VS Code and Windsurf are covered in the docs). The same key also works as a Bearer token for direct REST calls. There is nothing to install per platform.

Is the YouTube connector free?

Yes, to start. The Free plan includes 100 requests a month, every data source, and both MCP and API access, with no credit card. Paid plans (Starter $19, Pro $49, Business $199 a month) raise the request limit and history depth. Annual billing saves 20 percent.

How much YouTube history can I get?

Where the source supports it, about five years of weekly history, returned on a shared 0 to 100 index with absolute volume where available. Free includes 90 days, Starter one year, Pro two or more years, and Business the full archive.

Can I compare YouTube with other platforms in one question?

Yes. The growth tool takes a comma separated source list, so one call can compare YouTube against Google, YouTube, TikTok, Amazon or any other supported source over windows such as 3 months, 12 months or year to date, all on the same scale.

Do I need a separate YouTube account or API key?

No. One TrendsConnector key covers every source and both access methods (MCP and REST). Upstream platform access is handled for you.

Use it in your AI

Setup differs per client, so each of those pages carries the exact config for that tool. The full list is on all connectors.

Related connectors

Every connector runs on the same key, so adding a related source is a new question to your assistant, not a new signup. The full list is on the sources section of the homepage.
